A third straight win moved Texas back into the Associated Press Top 25, while a second straight loss dropped the Aggies out of the rankings for the first time this season.
Texas (4-1), which had been ranked before getting routed in Arkansas three weeks ago, jumped back in the rankings at No. 21 after three straight wins, including Saturday’s 32-27 victory at TCU. The Longhorns will get a stiff test this week when they face No. 6 Oklahoma in the annual Red River Rivalry game at the Cotton Bowl.
Texas A&M (3-2) opened the season ranked No. 6, but has toppled completely out of the rankings with back-to-back losses to Arkansas and Mississippi State. The Aggies must play No. 1 Alabama this week at Kyle Field.
