Nate Shelley is a horror movie villain in a creepy new fan-made alt-trailer for Ted Lasso season 2. Played by Nick Mohammad, the character of Nate has undergone quite the evolution over the course of Ted Lasso’s two seasons on Apple TV+.
Nate of course began the series as the humble kit man for AFC Richmond, a job that put him directly in the line of fire for all sorts of bullying by the team’s super-macho players. But uber-positive coach Lasso quickly saw the seemingly timid Nate’s greater potential and, in a feel-good moment for Nate fans, elevated him to assistant coach status. In season 2, Nate’s growing confidence in his coaching powers have indeed helped the team win games, but also led him down a path of darkness as he has become increasingly resentful over his contribution to the team going unacknowledged. In fact the show’s season 2 finale appears ready to unveil the formerly meek Nate as a full-on villain as it was revealed in episode 11 that he betrayed Ted Lasso by leaking news of his panic attack to the media.
