Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania Review: Repetitive Monkey Fun

Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania is a fun, albeit repetitive, remaster of the franchise’s first three console games, including story and party modes.

Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania is a remaster of the first three Monkey Ball console games from the early 2000s, published by SEGA and developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. Packed full of content, including a few original modes and challenges, Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania features a lengthy campaign mode for single-player, as well as different party games for those looking to recreate the heyday of GameCube couch co-op sessions. While the single-player aspects of the game can feel a little repetitive, Banana Mania manages to provide variety without relying entirely on nostalgia.

Like other games in the franchise, Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania revolves around one core mechanic: get the little monkey to the finish line while picking up bananas for extra points. However, Banana Mania also includes party games from 2005’s Super Monkey Ball Deluxe and an in-game store for players to purchase costumes and special stages with points earned from completing levels and collecting bananas. It also includes a mode that allows players to compete in online challenges, using clear times to create a ranking system for all players.
