Regarding Tom Moran’s recent column on Republican gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli and school funding (“Ciattarelli’s ugly plan on property taxes: Raid funds aimed at poor cities”), of course Moran found fault with this plan.
To be intellectually honest, there is NO solution to the tax problem in this state. A quote from an urban superintendent in the article reveals that 75% of her district’s school budget goes to salaries.
Is the omnipotent New Jersey Education Association going to allow a reduction in that spending? Of course not! Neither Ciattarelli nor incumbent Democrat Phil Murphy has the stomach to stand up against the NJEA union or any other union.
