King Abdullah II’s Luxury Real Estate Buys Could Jeopardize Jordan’s Foreign Aid: Analyst

Documents leaked on Sunday showing $100 million in luxury home purchases in the past decade by King Abdullah II of Jordan could jeopardize foreign aid for his country, the Associated Press reported.

Abdullah was meeting with the World Bank president to ask for more financial aid just around the time the documents were leaked. Abdullah was only one of the exposed leaders, politicians, billionaires, celebrities, religious leaders and drug dealers who were exposed for hiding their investments in mansions, properties and other assets, according to a report by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists.

Abdullah angrily denied any violations, claiming the homes had been purchased with personal funds and had been kept secret because of security concerns.
