James Gunn Debunks Suicide Squad Theory About Polka-Dot Man Easter Egg

Since David Dastmalchian voices Calendar Man in a Batman movie, some fans wonder if the character’s interaction with Polka-Dot Man was intentional.

Some fans might’ve thought they found a new Polka-Dot Man Easter egg in The Suicide Squad, but director James Gunn has rejected the idea. Even now, almost two months after The Suicide Squad arrived in theaters and on HBO Max, fans are still finding new things to discuss about the movie. Acting as something of a cross between a reboot and a direct sequel to the 2016 Suicide Squad helmed by David Ayer, Gunn’s movie offers a brash and violent reinvention of the DC anti-hero team.

Much of The Suicide Squad‘s cast is comprised of new characters, many of whom have already become favorites in the eyes of fans. For example, John Cena’s Peacemaker is already set to lead his own spin-off series for HBO Max, while King Shark (Sylvester Stallone) has become the subject of numerous online memes and fan creations. Another Suicide Squad standout is Polka-Dot Man (David Dastmalchian), a rather sad character on the surface who soon becomes one of the movie’s best heroes. Interestingly, The Suicide Squad isn’t Dastmalchian’s only DC movie this year, as he also voiced Calendar Man for Batman: The Long Halloween.
