While the texting feature works on the Fitbit Versa line if you’ve paired it with an Android smartphone, it does not work with Versa models that are paired to an iPhone.
If the ability to text via your Fitbit is a feature you think you'll use often, there's something you should know before you begin. You can respond to text messages using the Versa or Versa 2, but you cannot start a new message. Still, having the ability to respond to a text message without picking up your phone is pretty handy.
For example, if your phone is in the kitchen and you're in the living room, there's no need to grab your phone to respond to the message that just came through from your BFF. You can do it directly from your wrist.
